Claim requests

Claims are currently open

Arda Marred does not require an application, but rather a character claim that still needs to be approved by the mods. This is a bit like the little sibling of an application: It is shorter and more aimed towards making it easier for other players to get the gist of your character. The audience of your info post is primarily other players. We do reserve the right to decline claims or request revisions before the claim is approved. To place a claim, the following is needed:

✦ The character may be neither held for someone else nor already claimed.
✦ They must have an info post on their journal that uses the info post form and seems acceptable to the mods.
✦ Be one of the allowed character types as listed on the FAQs.

Format

✦ In the subject line, please write: Character Type | Character Name | Canon | Held/Not Held
✦ Please use one comment for each character.
✦ If this is a re-claim of a dropped or idled character, please also write "re-claim" in the subject line.
✦ If you run out of subject line space, just continue the rest of the info underneath the in reply.

✦ To request a character with an animal companion co-claim please add a note in your reply, and whether or not that companion is essential or non-essential.

Please note the following:

While you are allowed to place a claim at any time, claims are only processed from the 8th to the 15th of any given month. Please try not to post on the very last day, because claims can take several days to process.

We have a hard max of three AUs of the same character. That means that there should be one canon spot always available, and three AU spots. These AUs must also be different from each other. We will be using time stamps to determine processing order during claims.

Due to the nature of highly varied character types, some claims may take longer than others because more than one mod has to look at them for whatever reason. If you are "skipped" please understand that you are not forgotten, we simply need to take more time with your claim.

Due to the nature of allowing so many different character types and duplicates, many times "judgement calls" have to be made in terms of what characters are allowed, not allowed, or need to be AU. Some situations are going to be tricky! Power adjustment, questions, and revision requests won't be uncommon. But never fear! We're here to help you get in, rather than keep you out.

I am unfamiliar with sanwe-latye, but I am happy to explain sending.

I will copy paste from the wiki below, but the short summary:

Sending is a form of mental communication that elves can use to communicate with other elves, and with certain other creatures like the wolfriders can send with their wolves. A general sending is a communication between one elf and as many recipients as he or she chooses. If it is open, anyone who can hear sending can hear it. An elf can chose to make it a directed sending instead; that can not be spied upon except by the exceptionally strong. (Lord Winnowill being the primary, if not solitary, example) This can be over a wide distance, range dependant on the Elf. Windkin, having spent so long in the presence of the little Palace has a strong range. This form of sending usually shares words only, or ideas.

There is lock sending which is a deeper personal connection, and usually is with a small group that are proximate to each other. Lock sending can share memories and images.

Sending is also silent, physically.

Soul Names - if an elf holds the soul name of another elf, those two can communicate more closely, and over a greater distance.

Nothing can silence sending, save death. Even those who are out cold can send. May not be coherent, but they can send. Also, if an elf has ever sent to another elf before they can usually at least sense their mind if they are on the edges of their range. It's how Bearclaw is so certain that his mate is dead. Also for those who have had recognition - through sending they can feel it if their mate is BADLY injured or dies.

I think it is both ways, because I don't think that wolves can natively send, but Cutter and his wolf can communicate mentally both ways.

If someone astral projects, the distance for sending is based upon their focus/mind not their physical presence.

From the Wiki:

Sending
Known users: Most elves.

Sending is a form of telepathic communication between elves. One cannot lie in sending, and it is difficult to hide your emotions in it; they are as much linked to the message as the words themselves. One can respond to Sending even when unconscious, though the coherency of the reply is unknown. [2] The distance that one can Send varies on an individual basis.

Sending is intrinsic to all elves. While some tribes may have lost the knowledge of how to Send, there has been no sign of any elf or tribe that cannot learn to Send. Shenshen, for example, was never able to Send for hundreds of years while living in the Sun Village, but she developed the ability shortly after being exposed to the Palace's magic for the first time. She was also able to receive and understand her sister Leetah's Sending before she herself was capable of doing so.

Richard Pini notes in The Big Elfquest Gatherum (article "Recognition, or How Loud is your Lizard?") that even an elf who has never experienced Sending can still make telepathic contact with another elf during Recognition.

Black-SendingEdit
Known users: Strongbow, Winnowill, Rayek A subsect of Sending, this twists the sending with hate, anger, or other powerful, negative emotions so that it causes pain when received by the target.

Sending can be used for battles of wills, much like a staring contest.

If you need any more info, please feel free to ask. I've RPed with Sending so long, it's been ages since I had to go back to the source material for this specifically.

Two other things as general notes about sending (though as of now these won't be relevant to Windkin)
1 - Dreamberries - there is a berry native to his world that aids in sending. On their own they are mildly hallucinogenic when ingested in large quantities, or when turned into wine. As a berry or as juice, they can aid in sending in that it is easier to send full scenes with all the senses engaged if both the one sharing the memories/images and those receiving have imbibed. This is usually used in storytelling (also known as Howls among the Wolf Riders). When taken in large quantities or as a wine it affects sending about as much as you'd expect alcoholic hallucinogenic beverage to affect it. But it is kind of funny watching Cutter lose his mind thinking a Troll is Leetah >.>

2 - Speaking of Leetah, and Elves who have magic that acts on something outside the self, they generally channel it through sending. This is how a Healer knows how a wound was inflicted, and we see Eukar - a rock shifter - sending to the stone he is shaping, though the only response it gives is to take she shape he desired. When Ember is running through the caves it is indicated that it was shaped by a visual related to sending.

So yeah, that's all I can think of at the moment.

Sure! I didn't think about limits because while he is a stronger flyer than most Gliders, we don't see much of him doing distances. He tends to find a place and just hover around that place and defend it. So that is perfectly fine! I'll have to make note of that in case it comes up! Also since he's so small it would be reasonable that he can actually carry less/is hindered more by carrying than a taller/larger person might be.
