Claims are currently open

Arda Marred does not require an application, but rather a character claim that still needs to be approved by the mods. This is a bit like the little sibling of an application: It is shorter and more aimed towards making it easier for other players to get the gist of your character. The audience of your info post is primarily other players. We do reserve the right to decline claims or request revisions before the claim is approved. To place a claim, the following is needed:

✦ The character may be neither held for someone else nor already claimed.
✦ They must have an info post on their journal that uses the info post form and seems acceptable to the mods.
✦ Be one of the allowed character types as listed on the FAQs.

Format

✦ In the subject line, please write: Character Type | Character Name | Canon | Held/Not Held
✦ Please use one comment for each character.
✦ If this is a re-claim of a dropped or idled character, please also write "re-claim" in the subject line.
✦ If you run out of subject line space, just continue the rest of the info underneath the in reply.

✦ To request a character with an animal companion co-claim please add a note in your reply, and whether or not that companion is essential or non-essential.

Please note the following:

While you are allowed to place a claim at any time, claims are only processed from the 8th to the 15th of any given month. Please try not to post on the very last day, because claims can take several days to process.

We have a hard max of three AUs of the same character. That means that there should be one canon spot always available, and three AU spots. These AUs must also be different from each other. We will be using time stamps to determine processing order during claims.

Due to the nature of highly varied character types, some claims may take longer than others because more than one mod has to look at them for whatever reason. If you are "skipped" please understand that you are not forgotten, we simply need to take more time with your claim.

Due to the nature of allowing so many different character types and duplicates, many times "judgement calls" have to be made in terms of what characters are allowed, not allowed, or need to be AU. Some situations are going to be tricky! Power adjustment, questions, and revision requests won't be uncommon. But never fear! We're here to help you get in, rather than keep you out.

Briefly explain how this character differs from their canon counterpart: Legolas has endured over a year of repeated physical and mental abuse, resulting in a drastic drop in self-confidence but a much more vicious method of combat and is generally not as trusting. He sleeps more than normal elves since not sleeping would result in death in the tower so it's ingrained in him. He's also sporting several scars from his time in the tower as well as a much shorter hairstyle so people couldn't grab at him.

Briefly explain how this character differs from their canon counterpart: Zhaneel is the canon version of herself, save that she has two years development in another world. While living in the drabwurld, Zhaneel has grown to see her value in both herself and in her friends. She has become an apt fighter, more than willing to put herself on the front line if it means keeping those she loves safe. She will stand up for herself, though in the perfectly imperfect scenario, she can still lapse in her self-image and not see herself quite as valuable as others might. She will still put others before herself and in those incidences, believes they are worth more than she is. As said, she is still growing into this newer mature version of herself. Most dramatically, she gained magical abilities on top of her own while living in the drabwurld. She can change between gryphon and human and she can use minor for magic when wearing an enchanted ring she was gifted. She also spent a good amount of time with Aragorn in the drabwurld and he improved her own archery by leaps and bounds and has taught her the basics of both Sindarin and Quenya.

Briefly explain how this character differs from their canon counterpart (and other versions currently in game:) There are very few physical changes from her time in Ruby City. The biggest note would probably be that she stopped cutting her hair, and has let it grown out a little. Personality-wise, she's gotten more sure of herself. She's better at not freaking out over surprises, and she can handle being on her own, and having to take care of herself. She's more independent, and assured that she can manage to live on her own. Overall, her confidence is still a work in progress, but the progress has taken some major steps.

In terms of the other versions of herself, Beleth is a rogue female Lavellan, as opposed to a male mage Lavellan, and has made, and will make, different choices along her route, such as recruiting the Templars, and choosing Gaspard to rule (while Briala actually runs the show).

Hi there. First some minor things - could you please change the font color to a darker, more easily readable color? Most people are viewing the page with the default dreamwidth layout.

We've also changed the info post format slightly, changing the Permissions post to "Powers Opt-in" and the Opt out to "Content Opt-out." We're asking everybody this round to change the titles there, but you don't need to change anything else your opt out post is fine.

Second, We'd like to give her a similar condition that we gave the other inquisitor - if she needs to user her mark and open rifts, this is considered tapping into the music. details on theFAQs about tapping into the music. and comes with some consequences. Since she's not a Rift Mage like the other inquisitor, I imagine this wouldn't happen as often, but using the rifts is a gamble.

Alice came in very skittish, very leery of others, and has started to open up again. She's not nearly as self-destructive as she was and has proven herself to be more caring than she lets on. She's also gained a lot of peace over the death of her family and her psychosis isn't as severe. Alice also likes to stay pretty close to Maglor and largely considers him a father figure.

First, a quickie - on your info post you don't have her canon listed.

Also, your Content-Opt out post is not in our format. This is meant to be a place where players can opt-out of what your character's background might bring up that could be triggering, and not meant to be what your preferences are. This here is a good example. You are of course welcome to have that sort of post listed elsewhere, such as "anything else" at the bottom.

Abilities section - A part of this section repeats itself, particularly regarding her normal fighting ability. It would be helpful if you made it more list like as well, to clearly display individual abilities.

Briefly explain how this character differs from their canon counterpart (and other versions currently in game:) Nathaniel isn't a whole lot different from how he is in canon. The main way that he's changed is that since I'm taking him from the end of Dragon Age II, he's approximately 7 years older (and probably a little more mature) than he is in Awakening. He had a cameo in DA2 which is why I'm taking him from that point, but his cameo wasn't really in-depth enough to show how much he may have changed, other than that he seems a bit friendlier and less confrontational. He's aware of what happened at the end of Dragon Age II, which is different from his canon-counterpart, he's slightly more open and relaxed about things, he became romantically involved with Anders, another character from Dragon Age, while he was in Exsilium.

Re: Mind Control. I am rusty in my WoW, but I think you're referring to the "Dominate Mind" ability, which has a time limit. Could you mention the time limit or add "for a brief time" or something? If it's another ability let me know.

Slower to trust and showing contempt, Haldir is much more distrustful of Men than ever before. He harbors a dark hatred for Animus that is equaled to his sorrow. Trust is a fragile concept to Haldir and he's not willing to offer it as freely as he done days past. With his heart brewing with such rage, the only one who dared to cool it was none other than Legolas. He loves Legolas more than life itself and is unwilling to part with his beloved out of fear of losing him.

Still suffering from the horrors he faced, Haldir might appear a tad anti-social and easily frustrated with people. He prefers solitude above all things else and may seem somewhat uncomfortable speaking before others. It will take him time to adapt to his new surroundings after spending so many years in Animus.

Though it isn't so noticeable for those who are not familiar with her, she is less guarded when she meets new people. This is not to say she trusts them completely right away but she is still willing to talk to them more and have more physical contact than she used to. She's most certainly way more of a sister figure now than she used to be but is still one who will go out of her way to defend the weak and to put herself in harms way to do so.

Re: Smoke Bombs - We ask that you use good judgement in deciding if the materials to make smoke bombs are available in Arda.

Re: pick pocketing - since it's not technically a power and based on her IC choices, we'd just like a pinky swear that you'll always ask your fellow players before stealing items from their character.

Re: Cordyceps fungus - As I think you realize, It's best to say this is non transmittable to other characters (but like you say she has not way to know that right now!) However, if there is a time where you would like to run some kind of player plot with it, we'd be open to the idea, just ask.

Briefly explain how this character differs from their canon counterpart (and other versions currently in game:) Physically, he looks the same except for two visible scars, a slash mark over his left cheek and a cut on the left side of his neck. His Personas are sealed, and he has acquired an ability to summon and control electricity. Personality-wise, he's still more reserved and formal than a True Ending (typically considered the OU) version, despite the progress he's made in recognizing the importance of Social Links all over again, and his relationship to Truth is vastly different, having chosen to view it as something malleable instead of an absolute.
