Claim requests
Arda Marred does not require an application, but rather a character claim that still needs to be approved by the mods. This is a bit like the little sibling of an application: It is shorter and more aimed towards making it easier for other players to get the gist of your character. The audience of your info post is primarily other players. We do reserve the right to decline claims or request revisions before the claim is approved. To place a claim, the following is needed:
✦ The character may be neither held for someone else nor already claimed.
✦ They must have an info post on their journal that uses the info post form and seems acceptable to the mods.
✦ Be one of the allowed character types as listed on the FAQs.
Format
✦ In the subject line, please write: Character Type | Character Name | Canon | Held/Not Held
✦ Please use one comment for each character.
✦ If this is a re-claim of a dropped or idled character, please also write "re-claim" in the subject line.
✦ If you run out of subject line space, just continue the rest of the info underneath the in reply.
✦ To request a character with an animal companion co-claim please add a note in your reply, and whether or not that companion is essential or non-essential.
Please note the following:
While you are allowed to place a claim at any time, claims are only processed from the 8th to the 15th of any given month. Please try not to post on the very last day, because claims can take several days to process.
We have a hard max of three AUs of the same character. That means that there should be one canon spot always available, and three AU spots. These AUs must also be different from each other. We will be using time stamps to determine processing order during claims.
Due to the nature of highly varied character types, some claims may take longer than others because more than one mod has to look at them for whatever reason. If you are "skipped" please understand that you are not forgotten, we simply need to take more time with your claim.
Due to the nature of allowing so many different character types and duplicates, many times "judgement calls" have to be made in terms of what characters are allowed, not allowed, or need to be AU. Some situations are going to be tricky! Power adjustment, questions, and revision requests won't be uncommon. But never fear! We're here to help you get in, rather than keep you out.

Non-Canon AU | Celebrimbor | Tolkien | Held
Player who referred you: the mods!!
Full Canon Title: Tolkien's Legendarium
Character Name: Celebrimbor
Info post: Here
Is this character a duplicate ?: No
Briefly explain how this character differs from their canon counterpart: Was kept captive by Sauron instead of being killed, rescued much later, lived in Imladris through to the fourth age.
Revision Request
First, the history section should include a brief summary on his canon past. Wiki links should only be used as a supplemental. Try to limit this additional summary to about one paragraph.
Also, the question about canon vs AU differences in the form you filled out does not reflect any physical changes or personality changes. Please reply to this comment with all deviations from canon. History alone is not enough.
no subject
If so: in addition to historical changes, Celebrimbor looks different now. He has scarring across much of his body, and both hands, his ears, and a leg were badly maimed. He's also missing an eye, and some of his tattoos are there to celebrate or disguise the scarring. Personality-wise, he's much older and has little patience for foolishness any longer. He has a lot of trauma he deals with very badly. Otherwise, he's still as quiet and withdrawn as he always was.

Non-canonical AU | Kíli | Tolkien/The Hobbit | Held
Player who referred you: Ardruna
Full Canon Title: Tolkien's Legendarium; The Hobbit
Character Name: Kíli
Info post: Here
Is this character a duplicate ?: No.
Briefly explain how this character differs from their canon counterpart: He's still a child with no beard whatsoever.
Question!
First, bitty!Kili is actually a duplicate, as we have approved another Kili in the game. (This does not affect your ability to get in game, we just wanted to make that correction.)
Now for the question - We just want to confirm your height description. While you say Kili is small for his size, at the human equiv of 8 years old, seems reeeaaaly short for being just knee height. A human child at knee height is more like 3-4 years old. If you want to keep your description the same, that's okay, but we wanted to make sure your description matched your vision of the character because it seemed an unusual choice for the age. For reference, the average 8 year old male is about 4'1" tall, while the average adult male is 5'10" tall.
Re: Question!
As for the height, that was me trying to get my head around dwarf height ratios. I figured that since 4'5" seems to be a common height for adult dwarves, Kíli would have to be significantly shorter to be considered a small child, but I wasn't sure if I had the right dwarf proportions vs. human ones, so I'm willing to change it.
(Editing to note that I've made the change, and hopefully it works better!)
Approved!
Side note: I'm having trouble deciding how to tag your character, but I don't want to delay your reply or your joining the comms. I will get back to you with your character tag.

Canon AU | Sigrid | The Hobbit films | Not held
Player who referred you: Ardruna
Full Canon Title: The Hobbit (films)
Character Name: Sigrid
Info post: Here
Is this character a duplicate ?: No
Briefly explain how this character differs from their canon counterpart: She is ten years older, with all that means in terms of maturing both physically and mentally. She is a princess, heir to the throne of Dale, so her life is vastly different from that of her canon self.
Declined
Unfortunately, we cannot accept this Sigrid as she is. The reasons being are the following:
- Child and Elderly characters are the only acceptable age down/ups
- History alone is not enough to make an AU. There must be a physical change, or major change in personality.
That aside, if you had applied her as canon, she still would not be acceptable because a canon character is "as they are displayed in canon." and child/elderly (aged up/down) characters are required to take an AU spot.
All this can be referenced on the FAQs, under "What kind of characters are allowed!?" and "Do you allow duplicate characters?"
More details on acceptable AU types can be found here.
Some examples of an acceptable AU Sigrid would be:
- Sigrid with a missing limb
- Sigrid as a hobbit
- Sigrid as a boy

Canon AU | Mairon | Tolkien | not held
Player who referred you: Me!
Full Canon Title: Tolkien: The Silmarillion
Character Name: Mairon
Info post: Here
Is this character a duplicate ?: Yes
Briefly explain how this character differs from their canon counterpart (and other versions currently in game): He's got red/gold hair instead of black and is currently still a servant of Aulë, having not been corrupted by Melkor yet. Squeaky clean "bb", basically.

Non-canon AU | Mairon | Silmarillion | not held
Player who referred you: Me
Full Canon Title: Tolkien, The Silmarillion
Character Name: Mairon
Info post: Here
Is this character a duplicate ?: Yes
Briefly explain how this character differs from their canon counterpart (and other versions currently in game): He appears different and his powers are fire-based instead of earth. This Mairon also comes from a timeline in which Melkor doesn't corrupt him. He's much kinder and caring, eager to help and adores the Children and dwarves. And he trusts the Valar completely.
Questions / Power adjustment
First, our standard set of Ainur restrictions:
Mairon specifically - We're going ask that the shapeshifting is limited in the same way the other Mairon/Sauron in game is limited - that is the canonical examples of Wolf, Bat, and Snake. (You can keep the lava hair thing though!)
Does that all sound good?
Finally a question - it's hard to say which starting location is better for his arrival. Since he has never been corrupted, we'd like to give you a choice of starter location. Which would you prefer?

Aaaaaand /OVERDRAMATIC SIGH/, after much debate, I'll have him appear in Deepwood.
Approved!

Non canon AU | Isa | Kingdom Hearts | not held
Player who referred you: Stareyes
Full Canon Title: Kingdom Hearts
Character Name: Isa
Info post: http://mimaikin.dreamwidth.org/756.html
Is this character a duplicate ?: No
Briefly explain how this character differs from their canon counterpart (and other versions currently in game): Physical changes: his ears aren't elongated, and his eyes are green/turquiose/ 'm not so good at colours, not yellow. Though they might get slightly yellow tint sometimes, when he's besides himself with rage, but that rarely happens nowadays. He's also five or six years older than canon Saix of KH 2 (physically and mentally. But if someone bothered to check it somehow, he was born 65 years ago in his main time.)
As for personality changes, his personality is similar to Saix's, but with slightly more Light (he does have a light sliver of Light in his Heart right now, unlike Vanitas, afterall). Like Saix, this Isa is a Nobody right now, but one with a regrowing Heart and fully aware of the growth. He even sometimes strikes conversations (and not business likes one, too, sometimes) with people to help his Heart regrow!
He shows slightly more patience for fools than canon Saix, because the ones who saved his existence were also fools, in his opinion. Though he'll show little to no patience to any Darkness... correction, to any uncontrolled Darkness. If you're a Dark being but control your Darkness and don't threaten those he's possessive of, then fine, you can exist, even if your smell is loathsome.
He never uses his divining nowadays, as there are still tiny remnants of a certain person in his burgeoning Heart, and he has no desire to share 'future' with him. So he's now as clueless about his future as his canon counterpart.
[tell me if it's too long, I'll summarise even more]
Revision Request
We actually have an Info Post Format that we ask our players to use to keep things standardized.
Please fill that out and post it your journal, then comment here with a link to it.
After that, we can process your claim normally. Getting other revision requests or adjusting character's powers may also happen (they're pretty common!) but nothing to panic about, we're just trying to keep everything nice and tidy.
Oops, I should've checked, sorry. Is it okay now?
The rest stays as above, if that's alright.
Question!

Re: Question!
Canon AU | Cullen Rutherford | Dragon Age Inquisition | Held
Player who referred you: Ferus
Full Canon Title: Dragon Age Inquisition
Character Name: Cullen Rutherford
Info post: Here
Is this character a duplicate ?: No
Briefly explain how this character differs from their canon counterpart (and other versions currently in game): As a Red Templar he has begun to change physically from taking red lyrium. His eyes glow red, the scar on his lip has cracked further and runs up the side of his face to meet another scar over his right eye and eyebrow, both seem to almost have a red glow to them. His physical appearance has deteriorated, black circles under his eyes, pale, thinner and gaunt. In many places his veins are very visible under his skin and are dark red and slightly luminescent, also glowing from the lyrium. Dark red seems to be bleeding in under his nail and along his gums and the whites of his eyes.
His personality is also different, darker, though it's not super drastic change. He followed Samson because he trusted him when the Order once again failed him, but serving Corypheus and watching his fellow Templars get twisted into monsters was no better. He's lost his sense of purpose and feels defeated and depressed without it, too much of a lost case to ever hope that anything he does will atone for what he's done.
Revisions / Questions
I've got some things to go over with you before we can get you started.
First, I am not canon familiar other than what I hear from other people, but the other Cullen claim linked to a wiki that listed a lot of abilities, so I just want you to double check and make sure that your summarization covers everything it needs to. It looks fine otherwise.
Next, we'd like it if you could make a Power Opt-In post for his dispel ability.
Lastly - One of our mods who is canon familiar had a concern that being a Red Templar might cause him to eventually die while within game. We usually "stall" the decline of dying/terminally ill characters. Will that work for you?

I do really appreciate you guys reading over everything and I'm sorry for taking up your time. I'm just not quite sure I'm ready for another game or totally sure about this AU. Again, so so sorry and thank you.
