Claim requests

Claims are currently open

Arda Marred does not require an application, but rather a character claim that still needs to be approved by the mods. This is a bit like the little sibling of an application: It is shorter and more aimed towards making it easier for other players to get the gist of your character. The audience of your info post is primarily other players. We do reserve the right to decline claims or request revisions before the claim is approved. To place a claim, the following is needed:

✦ The character may be neither held for someone else nor already claimed.
✦ They must have an info post on their journal that uses the info post form and seems acceptable to the mods.
✦ Be one of the allowed character types as listed on the FAQs.

Format

✦ In the subject line, please write: Character Type | Character Name | Canon | Held/Not Held
✦ Please use one comment for each character.
✦ If this is a re-claim of a dropped or idled character, please also write "re-claim" in the subject line.
✦ If you run out of subject line space, just continue the rest of the info underneath the in reply.

✦ To request a character with an animal companion co-claim please add a note in your reply, and whether or not that companion is essential or non-essential.

Please note the following:

While you are allowed to place a claim at any time, claims are only processed from the 8th to the 15th of any given month. Please try not to post on the very last day, because claims can take several days to process.

We have a hard max of three AUs of the same character. That means that there should be one canon spot always available, and three AU spots. These AUs must also be different from each other. We will be using time stamps to determine processing order during claims.

Due to the nature of highly varied character types, some claims may take longer than others because more than one mod has to look at them for whatever reason. If you are "skipped" please understand that you are not forgotten, we simply need to take more time with your claim.

Due to the nature of allowing so many different character types and duplicates, many times "judgement calls" have to be made in terms of what characters are allowed, not allowed, or need to be AU. Some situations are going to be tricky! Power adjustment, questions, and revision requests won't be uncommon. But never fear! We're here to help you get in, rather than keep you out.

My main reason to do it as a CRAU was the blight, yes. The reason I wanted to give him canon memories as well was to make things easier on potential canonmates.

I can kill the double memories, or I can try to figure out a way to shift things so he has both the Blight and his full power, whichever you think would be better.

I am sorry I made this so complex/confusing.

First I want to thank you for your assistance thus far, and for being so patient with me. I spent most of the day (being the last 20 hours since I got this) Trying to figure out which would work better, how to make it work if I just went the normal AU route without irrevocably breaking the canon past all recognition, and doing a in depth canon review with a mind to "what would change if he still had a limp?".

Again, thank you for your patience with me. I very much appreciate it.

I think I figured out how to make option 1 work. I hadn;t thought I could at first, but mapping things out mentally as I reread made me think that I could twisted it minimally and make it work.

The theory being: when Jacob ripped the blight out of Greg (through his good leg, because Jacob was trying to ensure Greg hated him) he didn't get all of it. Since my work around for the other game was that when he pumped enough white fire through himself, he could stand... so long as he kept the white fire going. (He usually forgot, which led to the lovely face plant gags that are just so iconically Deegan) So that that night when Greg was "all fired up" and the next day, he was still channeling raw white magic. So it wasn't until after that he realized, and for a while he probably fought to keep enough white magic going that he could walk normally, so as to not concern anyone.

That all works until he overloaded his magic, and Dominic basically turned it off. That was what concerned me most, was that time period. But rereading, Dominic admitted to Pam while Greg was off screen to having mucked about in his mind. It is entirely possible, for AU purposes that Domnic - being the manipulative puppet master he is, used a bolster spell to temporarily keep the blight at bay until Greg's powers resurfaced.

His canon point would then be right after arriving at Lynbrook, right before the fight with the infernomancer (so he has his magic, and his limp).

If that would be acceptable, I can rework his powers (since magic isn't mutant powers, and he will be more nerfed when the blight is worse, and less when it is better) and his history section to fit this choice. Would that be alright?

And again, thank you for putting up with all of this, and for your patience. I am sorry I'm being such a pain with Greg, I didn't realize he meant so much to me. I guess I'm just really excited about having him in this game. Everyone here has been so nice so far. Thank you so much.

Edit: I will also have Dominic have been aware that he might be vanishing somewhere, because he is a Seer who can see other planes, so he would have made sure Greg was prepared. So he won't have as much stuff on him as originally proposed, and it will all be canon to what he has in the canon world, just not canon to what he brought to visit Rachel.

I am sorry I was confusing. I get carried away sometimes.

If I AU him this way the following deviations from canon would occour:

He still has the blight, though to a lesser degree (So he still has a limp/needs a walking stick except when actively channeling his magic)
His magic will be less powerful than canon when the blight is bad, scaling up to as powerful as he gets in canon when the blight is minimal.
At the canon point when I bring him, he will have more on his person, inventory-wise, than he did when he was at that canon point in canon.

Different from previously proposed CRAU:
No X-men memories
Magic is magic, not mutant power, so he has access to his other spells
No knowledge of technology that isn't available in his canon

I think that covers everything.

He has it in the early part of the canon:
http://www.dominic-deegan.com/view.php?date=2003-02-11
Because of the Blight:
http://www.dominic-deegan.com/view.php?date=2003-02-12
http://www.dominic-deegan.com/view.php?date=2003-02-17

And then Jacob pulled the blight out, through his good leg:
http://www.dominic-deegan.com/view.php?date=2003-08-05
making him stronger:
http://www.dominic-deegan.com/view.php?date=2003-08-13
And with it gone:
http://www.dominic-deegan.com/view.php?date=2003-08-30

What the AU changes with regards to the limp is that they thought it was fully gone, but it isn't. When he channels white Fire through himself, he can walk normally. But that takes practice, and focus, and he easily forgets, so he carries the walking stick anyway. He's spent ten years with it, so he's used to it anyway. Though he does channel the white fire when playing guitar, so he can stand and rock.

Since we only ever see the blight in black and white strips (the color ones are rare) I never really gave thought to what color it is, and it is never stated. Would you want me to say that it is a specific color? I presume it is either red (because it looks a bit like it follows the blood veins) or black (because it is necromantic magic.)

Would purple work? Since it is like a poison? Or a dark green like a mold or a rot? And do you need me to color the icon that has the blight to show the difference?

Okay, Purple I guess then. Should I revise his info posts to update it for actual canon?

Does this now work? And if so, do I need to repost it under the proper header? I also made a color icon for the Blight, but cannot upload it until I pay for my account, which I will do if/when he is accepted.

Name: Chicklet
Player who referred you: Tracey
Full Canon Title:Dominic Deegan: Oracle For Hire
Character Name: Gregory Deegan
Info post: Here

Is this character a duplicate ?: No
Briefly explain how this character differs from their canon counterpart (and other versions currently in game): Despite the Blight being ripped from him in Barthis, unlocking his true potential with White Fire, some of it remained. So that now, unlike in the canon, he has both White Fire and the Blight - which is purple.
