Claim requests
Arda Marred does not require an application, but rather a character claim that still needs to be approved by the mods. This is a bit like the little sibling of an application: It is shorter and more aimed towards making it easier for other players to get the gist of your character. The audience of your info post is primarily other players. We do reserve the right to decline claims or request revisions before the claim is approved. To place a claim, the following is needed:
✦ The character may be neither held for someone else nor already claimed.
✦ They must have an info post on their journal that uses the info post form and seems acceptable to the mods.
✦ Be one of the allowed character types as listed on the FAQs.
Format
✦ In the subject line, please write: Character Type | Character Name | Canon | Held/Not Held
✦ Please use one comment for each character.
✦ If this is a re-claim of a dropped or idled character, please also write "re-claim" in the subject line.
✦ If you run out of subject line space, just continue the rest of the info underneath the in reply.
✦ To request a character with an animal companion co-claim please add a note in your reply, and whether or not that companion is essential or non-essential.
Please note the following:
While you are allowed to place a claim at any time, claims are only processed from the 8th to the 15th of any given month. Please try not to post on the very last day, because claims can take several days to process.
We have a hard max of three AUs of the same character. That means that there should be one canon spot always available, and three AU spots. These AUs must also be different from each other. We will be using time stamps to determine processing order during claims.
Due to the nature of highly varied character types, some claims may take longer than others because more than one mod has to look at them for whatever reason. If you are "skipped" please understand that you are not forgotten, we simply need to take more time with your claim.
Due to the nature of allowing so many different character types and duplicates, many times "judgement calls" have to be made in terms of what characters are allowed, not allowed, or need to be AU. Some situations are going to be tricky! Power adjustment, questions, and revision requests won't be uncommon. But never fear! We're here to help you get in, rather than keep you out.

Character Strengths: Experienced warrior (Summoner, Scholar at max level, other combat classes between 15-30 of 60), Grandmaster craftsperson (Uses synthesis in game, but can presumably do it the old fashioned way too), the Echo
Character Weaknesses: Stature (she's smaller than your average hobbit), primarily a caster (doesn't do well with the sharp pointies at close range), materials availability (she only has the crystals she arrives with for synthesis, when they're gone she has to do things the normal way), inability to summon Egis (Ifrit, Titan and Garuda), inability to enter Dreadwyrm Trance (no Bahamut aether)

While I'm familiar with FF as a series, I am canon blind to XIV specifically.
Re: Animal Companions:
First, you should know we have some <http://singing-arda.dreamwidth.org/4804.html#cutid23>limits on pets/animal companions. Considering that she summons these creatures with limitations instead of having them out all the time, we can have some flexibility there, but we have to figure out how much depending upon how you intend to play with them.
1) How many summons/animal companions can be "out" at any given time, in canon? How many do you envision her having out while playing at AM?
2) Does the Chocobo stay out all the time, or can he be summoned / unsummoned? (It sounds like he’ll be out all the time, but I would like to make sure I understand completely.)
Re: The Echo
1) What does “history viewing” actually entail? Does she see into past via a person or object?
2) Does the echo only give her a resistance against telepathic influence, or does she use telepathy herself?
Re: Abilities of “other” job classes.
If this is limited only to use of weaponry, please list the weapon types she is capable of using. If she can use certain abilities from those classes that were not previously mentioned, those must be listed as well.

The chocobo is always out - it's like your average warhorse, basically.
The history viewing is based on the memories of the person she's interacting with, with very few exceptions, and it's never total knowledge - it typically just grants some insight on the current situation from the source's point of view. For a recent example, she was able to view the Warriors of Darkness taking on a primal and thus discover that they too were immune to tempering (mind control). The longest-reaching thing that's happened in canon thus far is witnessing the true beginnings of the Ishgard-Dragonkin war, through the memories of Hraesvelgr (one of the eldest dragons). It doesn't give her two-way telepathy, but it does make her able to receive. And it gives her an almost total resistance to mind control (I've yet to hear or see anything to suggest it isn't actually total, but wanna leave the remote possibility open for potential game shenanigans).
As a side note, the Echo's history viewing aspect is not all that common - it's used very sparingly in the game, and will more than likely be a mod/player consent required thing.
As for the other job classes: Most of these just amount to the ability to use a given weapon, at her level. Black Mage is a notable exception, in that it gives her access to different combat spells than she has as a Summoner (namely fire, ice, and lightning). Weapons she is proficient with include: Tomes (summoner and scholar), daggers (rogue), one-handed sword and shield (gladiator), staves, wands and rods (conjurer and black mage), greatswords and firearms (basic proficiency only, dark knight and machinist respectively), bows (archer), fist loads/empty hands (pugilist), and axes (marauder). If you guys want, I'm fully willing to drop everything there except summoner, scholar, and maybe black mage - she's definitely not one for up close and personal combat, anyway.
ETA: Forgot to mention lances, as a Dragoon.
Revision Request / Power adjustment
Since it looks like (for the most part) only one of the summons can be out at a time, and you don’t have major intentions to use them independently, I think we can let that stand as-is, with no modifications. You’ll be allowed the Chocobo mount as a normal mount, and summons mentioned.
Okay, now we just have a few of revisions to do. We’ll try to make it as painless as possible.
Re: history viewing – You’ll need explicit player permission to use this on a player character, and it should be specifically mentioned on your Power-Opt in comment.
Re: Other classes: please briefly list the weapons she's proficient in on the info post. (Just the name of the weapon is fine) as well as her use of fire, ice, and lightning under the abilities section.
Re: Language interpretation – As we’ve done for other characters with similar abilities, we ask that you get player permission before you have her use this ability to understand someone. (This can be a simple ask at the time the thread is taking place, no need for an Opt In) but her ability should not be infallible.
After that, you’ll be all set! Sound good?
