Part of AM's premise is a lot of travel and exploration, and our method of measuring time is a bit wibbly-wobbly. I'm more concerned about the game being fair for everyone to have fun than I am about SCIENCE and MATH, but the birds will have a huge advantage still.
I gave a similar condition to Julian above, but from the sounds of it, Zhaneel might be a touch faster, so let's say...
Zhaneel can fly a max of 11-13 "days-by-foot" per day unburdened, and under ideal conditions. How you split that up into resting or gliding or whatnot is up to you. With a passenger or carrying a something heavy, keep it down to 6-7.
At that distance you'll be able to get to some of the first settlements outside of Deepwood so you can start mapping. On the map, that's about the length of Deepwood (27) to a little passed Lond Daer (28)
