My headcannon is that Curufin and Huan were affectionate but not anywhere near as close as Celegorm and Huan.
On the wording of the policy -- does that mean that Huan and Curufin can't interact at all? Or that they can interact occasionally? I mean in a direct manner, that is, one of them replying to the other's post or comment.
What about in an indirect manner? If they are both at Tol Siroin fighting the werewolves, they would certainly be aware of each other's presence! But for example, Curufin could yell "Huan!" if he needs help in a thread he's in, and Huan could show up to bite the doggies on the other team, but not reply directly to Curufin. He could interact with other characters in the same thread and ignore Curufin.
I was thinking that Huan could be MAD AT CURUFIN, and therefore unwilling to give him the old affection. He might be blaming Curufin for Celegorm's death in the attack on Doriath, and be in a permanent huff about that. Not entirely fair, but then, emotions aren't fair. (Huan died before Celegorm did, but probably Maglor would tell him what happened when he and Huan meet in the game, or some other Silmarillion character could.)
