Regarding flight, you don't specify his personal limitations on that, but these are the guidelines we've set for other flighted characters:
He can fly a max of 10-12 "days-by-foot" per day unburdened, and under ideal conditions. How you split that up into resting or gliding or whatnot is up to you. With a passenger or carrying a something heavy, keep it down to 5-7.
At that distance you'll be able to get to some of the first settlements outside of Deepwood so you can start mapping. On the map, that's about the length of Deepwood (27) to Lond Daer (28).
