As for the size shifting, since it has no canon basis we're going to have to say no on that. However, we'd like to let you pick his permanent size - anywhere between pixie to Smaug sized, as per our guidelines.

Flight - Everyone with fast travel has a limit as to how far they can go. Our max speed is around 11 to 13 days worth of foot travel per day, unburdened. That cool?
